Influencing public policy for
a better New Zealand

Government policy

NZICA's Government Policy function aims to ensure that government makes good public policy decisions on matters relating to NZICA, its members and the wider public interest.

Submissions

We regularly make submissions to government bodies including the Financial Markets Authority, Ministry of Economic Development and the Commerce Select Committee.

Shaping government policy

By providing credible and high quality advice, and drawing on the knowledge and experience of NZICA members, we've formed a constructive relationship with government and public officials.

Opportunities to influence government's decisions arise at various stages of the policy development process. This can be at the beginning of the process, through government discussion documents or issue papers, or at the end of the policy making process at the government bill and select committee stage. NZICA also provides valued advice to government in regard to the implementation of policy and specific technical issues.

Your contributions

Contributions from the public and non-government organisations can have a significant impact on government decisions, from broad decisions of principle to equally important fine-print. Involving stakeholders in the policy and legislative process leads to better decisions.

Contributions from all members on public policy issues are welcomed. Input into NZICA submissions can come from NZICA staff, committees, advisory groups and special interest groups, and from individual members. We also seek expertise from outside NZICA if necessary.

We welcome contributions on public policy issues from our members, committees, advisory groups, special interest groups and staff. To contribute, contact Nadia.McCartin@nzica.com.
