NZICA Westpac Scholarships
The NZICA Westpac Scholarships were developed under the Leading Light Scholarship programme in conjunction with our partner Westpac.
Purpose of scholarships
To assist two young accounting students to excel in accounting.
Selection criteria
We are looking for outstanding applicants who deliver strong academic results. You will be a future leader and team player who contributes to the community. You also need to be an NZICA Student Affiliate, have a Westpac Student Pac (also known as Westie Pac), and be committed to the NZICA pathway.
Value
NZICA Westpac Study Support Scholarship: $5,000 over two years.
NZICA Westpac Career Starter Scholarship: $5,000, plus the opportunity to spend a day networking with senior Westpac finance and business professionals and attend the NZICA Leadership Awards dinner with Westpac in November.

2. Written references from two referees
One of which must be an academic referee; the other a character reference from a teacher, mentor, voluntary or sporting group leader or coach, or member of your community (not a family member or friend).
See Terms & Conditions Point 10 for specific referee guidelines.
The reference should highlight:
- your skills as a student
- your ability to complete their study on schedule
- the impact receiving the Scholarship will have on you
- their level of support for the application.
Referees should email their reference to scholarships@nzica.com with the title “Academic Reference for NZICA Leading Light applicant (insert name)” .
3. Personal criteria statement (maximum 1000 words), including:
- Statement of the motivation behind the application for a NZICA Leading Light Scholarship
- Statement of career intentions and goals
- Suitability statement - how you feel that you meet the characteristics, conditions and intentions of the NZICA Scholarship; specifically provide examples of:
- Your academic success at secondary school level
- Your leadership and teamwork skills and situations where you have used or developed these skills
- Outline any extra curricular and community activities and you are involved in and what they mean to you
- Outline your career ambitions, including any involvement with NZICA and which designation you aim to pursue
- The personal impact the NZICA Leading Light Scholarship will have if received.
