Accounting bodies announce first trans-Tasman appointment
The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) and Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) are pleased to confirm the appointment of Leo Morta, as their first trans-Tasman Chief Information Officer (CIO).
This new position is responsible for leading and executing integrated IT service delivery across ICAA and NZICA.
The trans-Tasman CIO will also play an integral role in the ongoing collaboration between NZICA and ICAA, and in particular delivery of a joint Chartered Accountants Program (Program) by the two organisations from 2013.
Leo is based in Wellington and comes from the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) in New Zealand where he has been the CIO for the past four years. He has an extensive background in IT with experience in consulting, systems architecture, programme management, strategy development and executive leadership.
About the collaboration
Collaboration between ICAA and NZICA began in September 2010 and aims to provide greater value to members on both sides of the Tasman.
The collaboration is focused on four key areas: delivering a joint Chartered Accountants Program; further development of member products and services; joint marketing activities; and shared IT systems to provide new or enhanced member services and benefits.
In particular, the decision to deliver a joint Chartered Accountants Program stems from the two organisations’ shared vision to create a Program that is rigorous, of high quality, internationally recognised and which effectively engages with current and future members.
From 2013, the joint Program will be delivered via a flexible, modern blend of face-to‐face and online learning. Via a new Online Learning platform candidates will experience greater access to learning resources, along with more flexibility to study from anywhere, at anytime.
